NG Road Racing this Weekend at Donington Park

Monday, August 06 2018

NG Road Racing are gearing up for meeting six of the 2018 season at Donington Park (11-12 August) and it's shaping up to be a stunning season with full grids and great racing in all classes so far.

The next meeting will be at Donington is always a firm favourite with the riders and the 600 class is pretty much guaranteed to be a highlight. Alex Jones on top of the championship on his R6 but Kayla Barrington is right on his tail. The top five are covered by just 12 points, and with BSB runner Alex Baker back on track this will be a set of races to savour.

Sidecars have been a big hit at previous Donington Park meetings, and this weekend not only sees the season long NG series out on track but also the ACU/FSRA Formula 2 British Championship runners having their fifth round of the year, so it is a vital part of the season for them with just three more rounds remaining.

When it comes to the Superbikes Josh Day is the man of the year heading up both the Open and Powerbike championships on his ZX10R Kawasaki. He will expect the challenge to come from the usual men in James, Kiff, Nick Williamson, Allister Haynes, Chris Pope, Gary Stevens and Paul Dawson.

Look out for the British National series for Hartsmere Logistics 125cc and Dymag 250cc GP machinery. Also racing will be the Ducati Desmo Due Series and the ever-growing Suzuki Bandit challenge along with the Formula Prostock runners.

This 1.96-mile race track is fast and flowing with a series of high speed sweeping corners opening out onto the fast and undulating Dunlop straight. Donington is all about high corner speed and smooth riding. You will see a lot of high speed overtaking as well as bravery in the braking areas at Roberts, Redgate and the Old Hairpin.

You can soak up the atmosphere by heading down to the paddock, which is free of charge to the public and is a great opportunity to check out the machines up close and chat to the riders between races.

Tickets for the NG Road Racing Championships at Donington Park (11-12 August) are available online for £12 until midday on Wednesday or on the gate from £16 with free entry for under-13s. For more information, please call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
